Sasserine Party Creation Notes

How the party met:

Each of the characters were recent winners of one of the contests held during the Founder's Festival last year. To promote civic pride, unity and friendly competition, young Sasserine citizens of the 7 districts compete in various contests.

The PCs' victories for their districts brought them to the attention of a lesser noble who works with the Dawn Council. Lucius Cato tries to encourage harmony amongst the districts and invites current and past festival winners to a dinner so that the contestants can get to know each other. This is how the party members met and decided that they liked each other.

Lucius Cato

Lucius lives in the Noble District and is concerned about smuggling operations in Sasserine. Over the last six months he has employed the party in odd jobs to catch petty smugglers. These operations have been a way to test the mettle of the young party. It hasn't been anything too dangerous or glamorous-- the tasks are too small for the City Guard to be bothered about, but are just big enough to train the party. Lucius also finds that the youngsters blend in easier than the city's guards.

The party doesn't work for Lucius, but he puts them onto jobs that revolve around stopping smugglers in various districts. Sometimes they choose to do it as a service to him (or the city) and other times they get paid or keep some of the loot.

The party have been around Lucius enough to know that he can be ruthless in his service of the city. He rarely turns down 'gifts' the party make to him of recovered smuggled goods. Lucius is a vain man. He is always seen smoothing his hair and brushing his mustache.

Favorite Meeting Place

The Hammers usually meet at Gregair's Place in the Merchant District. Upstairs is a bar and downstairs is a gambling parlour-- a den, really. The group have gotten to know the barman, the bar mistress and a few of the locals. It's a good place to get together without too many people noticing.
