This is the thread where I will post the latest experience earned. In keeping with the idea of limiting the amount of meta-game info given out in this campaign, the experience will be descriptive rather than a number. I'll keep score behind the scenes. When your character levels up, their newly-acquired expertise will feel more natural.

Player Votes

At the end of each gaming session, each player gets a pool of 100 points. You may distribute these points to the other players in whatever proportion you wish. The points given cannot exceed 100 and not all 100 points need to be given out. You whisper your votes to me in game or send the totals by email if you have to leave early. I will keep your individual distribution totals private, but will post the aggregate score.

You should base your votes on which player(s) you liked gaming with the most. I suggest 2 simple criteria:
a) the best role-player
b) the best contributor to the party's or the gaming groups' success

I know that this is a popularity contest. I'm a big believer, though, that life's too short not to be gaming with people you like.

I ask you not to be overly sensitive about it in the beginning. In the long run, look at it as an opportunity to find out how well the others think you're doing and whether you need to make any changes. In the early stages, there may be confusion over the difference between you the player and your PC the character. Hang in there while the others get to know you. In some cases, the PC's role is not to care too much about the party, while the player cares about the success of the group. It'll sort itself out.

I may use these scores for experience bonuses or modifiers. I haven't decided yet and I may not tell you.

I'm only recording your votes this first session. It seems that Cuthbert made a big first impression, while Lillian's reticence may have been misunderstood. Nothing else to read into this.

Scores:
Cuthbert 150
Mayra 100
Arken 80
Lillian 70

Lillian smiles slightly inside her voluminous hood and briefly fingers the little damsk drawstring bag that hangs within the folds of her cloak before turning her eyes once more to the road ahead...

Playing an outwardly loud stereotype (on the surface anyway) always pays off early doors, it would actually be bad roleplaying for some of the more reticent, complicated types to play too much of their hand in the first session or two.

And by the social system some may have had to bite their tongue and suss out others before they interact anyway which makes it hard to stay in character and interact a whole lot at first.

I also suspect the heretics are just trying to bribe him with XP to make sure he doesn't smite you Evil or Very Mad

Haha, yeah, the demons want to get under your skin, watch yourself Smile

I think this will crystallize after a few sessions, this is just a first impression, right?

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Session 2: Entering Gordon's Keep

Post  Sakusammakko Tue 08 Jun 2010, 11:20

Date: 24th of January in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 0 degrees (freezing); clear; moon is a waning crescent

Led by Cuthbert and Rolland, five intrepid explorers descended into Gordon's Keep. Among the volunteers were Arken, Mayra and Mendax, each on their first adventure.

I'll leave the chronicling of their tale to others. Instead, I'll report on what the characters learned. NOTE: The points are what you voted each other and not actual XP.

Cuthbert learned the value of keeping his senses while those around him were losing theirs. He showed ingenuity in wading the pool looking for secret compartments (or a drain). He demonstrated that resisting his mace his futile (if you're a bronze door). Overall, his followers seemed to appreciate his leadership and gave him 190 points.

Rolland's first foray into the unknown almost led to disaster as he slumped to the floor entering the Keep. He managed to regain his wits and began to appreciate the danger of his new profession. He learned that a locked door is sometimes no match for a strong right boot. His followers appreciated his strong leadership and gave him 210 points.

Arken had no opportunity to practice his martial skills, though he learned that locked doors are sometimes a match for the left boot. With youthful exuberance, he yearns for a good fight. We'll see how well he has learned his lessons. His scouting abilities earned him 50 points from his mates.

Mayra learned that being a torchbearer is underappreciated work! She received no points for her efforts. The torch going out during the mad dash for the blue steel door wan't entirely her fault. She was following orders. Oh well. She noticed that books do not survive well in old, underground libraries.

Mendax discovered that evil has seemingly no limits. As a humble pilgrim, his faith in God has been renewed. His companions appeared to appreciate his ability to stay in the shadows and away from trouble by giving him 50 points.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Session 3: New members join the group

Post  Sakusammakko Mon 21 Jun 2010, 14:59

Date: 25th of January in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: -2 degrees (below freezing); overcast with snow

Cuthbert and Rolland's small group of adventurers spent their first night in the village of Gordon. Freezing temperatures and thin blankets made for a poor night's rest. In fact, Rolland, Mayra and Mendax were not ready to venture inside the Keep so soon and elected to stay in the village. On the other hand, three new adventurers decided to accompany Cuthbert and Arken back to the den of evil.

Brother Aquila, a warden of the Brotherhood of Saint Christopher, had made his services available. So, too, has Diogenes, a 'jack-of-all-trades' employed by an unknown merchant. Finally, A young woman named Lillian hasn't exactly offered her help, but has been pressed into joining the group as Cuthbert would not have her go into the Keep alone.

The January dawn was a cold one with morning frost and a sky portending snow. It took the group about 30 minutes to trundle up to the Keep from the village.

Arken's leadership was much in evidence this trip as Cuthbert allowed him to set the direction. He has learned in his second trip into the Keep that the entrance should not be trusted. Again he lost control of his senses and fell asleep while descending the stairs. Once he recovered, Arken led the group's discovery of a group of 7 ragged-looking humans. He demonstrated bravery by advancing into the humans unarmed and earning their acceptance. His overall leadership led to him receiving 130 points.

Dio seemed to fit into the group rather well, perhaps more for his commentary and torchbearing than his jack-of-all-trading skills. He learned that well-made locks require more care in their picking. He received 120 points from his fellow adventurers.

Lillian learned that dungeons are dark, dank places with plenty of places for centipedes to hide. Upon reflection, she is probably thankful for having the company of her new companions. Her calmness 'under fire' while being accused having stolen a baby earned high praise from her fellow adventurers and they rewarded her with 80 points.

Aquila's first adventure was somewhat quiet as perhaps fits his personality. His particularly attractive clothing received unwanted attention and he may have learned that vanity in appearance may come at a price. He seemed happy to let the others lead and they may have forgotten his contribution as he didn't receive any points.

Cuthbert did not give or receive points for this session. He did learn some things about the Keep. He is not actually immune from the entrance's effects. He noticed that he lost control of his senses this time. He'll have to be careful in the future. Otherwise, Cuthbert got first-hand experience in how the Lord rewards the faithful, by using two of his spells to great effect. First, he was able to win over the humans by creating water that they so desperately wanted. Second, he used his natural charisma and a well-placed command to avoid potential disaster. He was able to distract the restless humans which allowed his colleagues to escape/explore without too much interference. Finally, he has confirmed that there may be times when a firm slap can calm an hysterical woman.

After exploring most of the humans' lair, the group decided to return to the village to rest and refit. They'll probably share some stories, hope to get a good night's sleep and continue the next day.

It was a pleasure to play last night. Hope you all had fun!

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Session 4: A new member joins

Post  Sakusammakko Sun 25 Jul 2010, 22:39

Date: 26th of January in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: -2 degrees (below freezing); cloudy

Cuthbert and Rolland once again led a small group of adventurers into Gordon's Keep. Illness, insomnia or other pressing concerns left some members unavailable to travel on the day.

The group were introduced to Baylen, a local from Alba who Cuthbert had provisionally agreed to allow accompany the explorers. Baylen's desire to combat evil made his uncouth manner palatable to the Deacon.

The third visit to the Keep proved somewhat eventful as the group explored new areas. I'll let others record events (if they wish) on the Gordon Keep's Notes thread. As Judge, I really enjoyed the interaction among all of the players. It was a short, but immensely satisfying session.

Baylen's exuberent behavior proved popular with the more experienced members of the group as they awarded him 170 points for his actions. Baylen quickly learned that his axes were no match for swarms of flying bats and that shields were much better for pummelling the beasties.

Arken's resourcefulness seemed to be appreciated by the rest of the group as he received 100 points for his efforts. Perhaps it was his liberal use of flaming oil while trying to fight off the bats that caused his companions to take note.

Sir Rolland's calmness under duress was also noted and rewarded with 80 points. In the group's first combat experience, he used his large shield to good effect in fighting off the swarm of bats that were encountered.

Deacon Cuthbert's leadership was not as highly appreciated in this session as it was in previous sessions. Perhaps his fighting prowess has been underestimated by his companions who only gave him 50 points.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Session 5: The bashing (of doors) continues

Post  Sakusammakko Wed 28 Jul 2010, 12:37

Date: 27th of January in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 0 degrees (freezing) and foggy

Cuthbert led another small group of adventurers into Gordon's Keep. Once again, some of the original travelers from Alba and Legio were indisposed and could not join the exploration.

The party set out purposefully to explore the room with the glass cylinder and the floating, fanged monster. It wasn't there and they wondered if they'd somehow set it loose on the world....

Cuthbert learned that he is much better at using his mace to destroy stone foes than to bash in doors. He also learned that the Lord works in ways that don't always benefit the faithful. It's unclear why his prayers for healing went unanswered. Perhaps these embarrassing moments took some of the shine off of the Deacon's reputation in the eyes of his colleagues. They voted him 40 points.

Arken found that he his quite good at hammering away at doors, though it is obvious that Baylen is better. He also learned that he should not try to imitate the uncouth one's fighting style. Hot rage does not work for Arken in battle. It's cool cunning that allows him to defeat foes. For his efforts, the other members awarded him 210 points.

Mayra discovered that her special skills were not really required during the day's adventuring, unless torch-bearer is one of them. Nevertheless the other members of the group gave her 40 points for her companionship.

Baylen confirmed that a small hammer and a priestly mace are no match for a greataxe when it comes to defeating a closed and locked door. He also learned that his lust for battle can be sated by killing real foes, especially demonic idols, but his defenses become weaker and he gets fatigued more easily. He's beginning to learn where the boundaries are. For his efforts, his companions awarded him 110 points.

Votes Update

Here are the total votes each PC has received. That can be deceiving as it depends (in part) on the number of sessions played. So I also put a second number. This is the percentage of votes your PC received in all of the sessions they've played in. I think it's a slightly more useful indicator. Please note that we are still dealing with small sample sizes and a narrow variety of role-playing situations.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Session 6: An encounter with crazy

Post  Sakusammakko Fri 13 Aug 2010, 16:52

Date: 28th of January in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: -1 degrees; cloudy with morning frost

The winter weather seems to have taken its toll on the visitors in Gordon. Their constitutions don't seem suited to the mountains. Who can blame them? Not only was it a freezing cold night, but the inhuman howlings (screaming?) of something in the surroundings allowed only the deaf and the dead to sleep. Some of the locals say that it's the ghosts of the old Keep's torture victims and it's best not to go out looking for them.

Nevertheless, two brave (or foolish) souls ventured forth on the morn. Mayra and Dio trudged up the hill from the village to explore Gordon's Keep. By the end of the day, they sensed that they were fortunate to return to civilization. I'll let them tell that tale elsewhere.

Mayra learned that caution is the better part of valor when it comes to exploring an ancient dungeon and your only companion is a charming man who's a little light in the weapons department. She discovered that she has a bit of skill in getting out of potentially dangerous situations. Her quick thinking covered their escape when the 'crazies' got a little too close for comfort. Dio highly valued her talents and gave her 100 points.

Dio learned to trust his instinct that says it's better to run like a nervous cat in the face of potential danger than to get hacked down by some crazy while saying 'hello!' Dio has found that a little more muscle gives one a little more spine. Nevertheless, he confirmed that his climbing skills are very good and also discovered that everyone is not who they seem.... Mayra rated Dio very highly and gave him 100 points.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Session 7: Baylen doesn't return

Post  Sakusammakko Tue 31 Aug 2010, 06:25

Date: 29th of January in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer

Weather: 7 degrees; foggy

It was Sir Rolland's turn to lead a small band of adventurers into Gordon's Keep. Brother Gaskon, a member of the Brotherhood of Saint Christopher joined Baylen and Diogenes for a return visit to the dungeons. Unfortunately, Baylen did not come back to Gordon village in the evening. Few noticed this fact given that the party returned with a wild boy and blind woman who were rescued from the depths of the Keep.

Sir Rolland realized that he has much to learn about leading an expedition. The men did not respond well to inspiration and he was wracked with guilt over the treatment of the boy and the blind woman. It's possible that he blames himself over how poorly the day's events ended.

Dio learned the importance of having muscle fight his fights for him and using stealth to elude danger. Sometimes a little extra time spent nosing through things has its rewards.

Baylen found that his battle rage does not allow him to defeat all fores nor could not protect him from danger.

Gaskon's first battle was more difficult than he had anticipated. He realized that he has much more to learn about fighting if he is going to protect innocents in the wilderness.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Session 8: A demonic encounter

Post  Sakusammakko Mon 13 Sep 2010, 11:42

Date: 30th of January in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 5 degrees; clear day; crescent moon

A potentially sombre day took a brighter turn as Baylen stumbled into the village in the morning. Somehow he survived a night in the Keep and was able to find his way out the next morning. Weakened and bloodied from his experience, Baylen was put in the local folk healer's care for the day. Rolland bought him a healing poultice to speed his recovery.

With nobody else in town to accompany them, it was up to Sir Rolland and Brother Gaskon to decide if it was worth venturing into the Keep. Cautiously, they descended and survived the the entranceway. With his initial survival ensured, Sir Rolland sent his squire on his way to Legio to recruit men-at-arms for future expeditions.

The pair of adventurers decided to explore new ground this trip. They found many disgusting and disturbing things and narrowly escaped danger a couple of times including an encounter with a demonic-looking creature riding a wolf.

Sir Rolland learned that having a loyal servant in the quest to find his brothers may not be worth the price; that gold and silver too easily offered may be too good to be true. He also discovered that an axe can come in handy when needing to destroy large, wooden objects and that fire is effective against molds. As for the wisdom to be learned from large piles of wolf excrement, he's decided that there is none to be had.

Gaskon isn't sure yet if folk healing is worth the rash that comes with it. His tracking skills are good, but still need refinement. His sword strokes, though, are becoming more practiced. He's learned that Sir Rolland can be an erratic leader, ordering and countermanding his orders without reason. Sconces are a good place to put a light source when battle draws near.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Session 9: Sweet dreams!

Post  Sakusammakko Mon 20 Sep 2010, 15:42

Date: 31st of January in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 0 degrees; freezing rain

Many new faces arrived in Gordon overnight. Gaskon awoke to find that he had become the de facto leader of a small group of adventurers. Brother Thedin had arrived from Legio looking for Brother Cuthbert and Sir Rolland. Gaskon didn't have much news to offer other than he'd seen Sir Rolland the day before. He'd never met Brother Cuthbert. Word is he hasn't been seen in the village for days.

A woman bearing a greataxe called Neiva and a tall man named Damaco said that they wanted to accompany Gaskon into the Keep. Each had their own reasons. Gaskon was somewhat grateful for the help. He'd seen what was in the ruins.

Along the way, a poor hungry creature joined the group. She looks rather bedraggled, but she was a good torchbearer. Too bad about her tongue and fingers. She stayed close to Thedin.

Gaskon's fighting skills improved a little more, but his sense of direction and leadership may need a bit more refinement. Perhaps his hesitation about where he was leading the group made them uncomfortable. They voted him 85 points for his efforts.

Damaco practiced his searching skills and was often seen hiding in the darker corners of rooms. He learned that rash behavior can have unpleasant consequences. Perhaps his new 'mates' didn't appreciate carrying his sleeping body down from the Keep in the rain. He received 65 points.

Siv has learned that it can be dangerous to leave a stronger person's side (Thedin, for example). Her first independent action resulted in going into a deep sleep. Perhaps her naivety is the reason the others voted her 75 points.

Neiva's fighting prowess was amply demonstrated against the wolves the party faced. She may even have learned to control her temper a bit. Her confidence in battle and no nonsense approach to exploring appears to have been greatly appreciated by the group. They awarded her 125 points.

Thedin showed great courage in his first fight, though it almost became his last. Perhaps it was his faith in the Lord that kept him from succumbing to the teeth of a determined foe. He also learned that compassion has its rewards as the unnamed young woman seems to have become a devoted follower. Perhaps it was for his valor and kindness that the group gave him 130 points.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Session 10: Darkness falls (but nobody else does)

Post  Sakusammakko Tue 28 Sep 2010, 00:12

Date: 1st of February in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 1 degree; cloudy

Sir Rolland returned to find many new faces milling around Gordon village looking for adventure. Brother Thedin made his introductions and inquired about Brother Cuthbert. Neiva, Damaco and the quiet one (later discovered to be called Siv) were also on hand.

This was an eventful trip in which many valuable lessons were learned by each member of the group. Notably, that wolf makes good eating (for some); that mould doesn't respond well to fire; that darkness is chaotic in the least, expensive if ignored and potentially deadly. Most of the adventurers should leave the Keep thankful it was only their belongings taken and not their lives.

Sir Rolland's sword skills received a little more practice. He confirmed that his pyrotechnic actions taken with Brother Gaskon were indeed successful from a previous trip. Fire can definitely be a friend. The knight's kneeling ways may have saved his head from leaving his body, but his lack of visual clues left him incapable of retrieving his pack from the small humanoids. Overall, his leadership and mediation skills netted him 100 votes from the group.

Damaco once again practiced his searching skills and was often seen hiding in the darker corners of rooms. He learned that he will need to work on improving his lock picking skills. Unfortunately, the party's fortune was lost when his pack was stolen, but he learned the lesson of having a backup plan. His skills were more appreciated this time in the Keep and he received 75 points.

A good night's sleep in a warm bed allowed Siv to learn how to express herself much better during this foray into the Keep. She discovered her 'voice' during the encounter with darkness and may have saved herself and others with her actions. She appreciates the value of a large stone and a concealed knife in keeping unliked people in their place. The others showed their appreciation of her resourcefulness by voting her 135 points.

Neiva's fighting prowess was amply demonstrated on a sturdy door and thin air in this session. She may have gotten the better of her temper last time, but she discovered it didn't do her much good this time. Night vision would have been more helpful. Her fierceness in facing down little Siv may have earned her respect from the group or simply intimidated them into awarding her 125 points.

Thedin learned that sometimes the light of the Lord cannot overcome all forms of darkness. His inability to see his foes resulted in the loss of his material possessions and not his spiritual ones. Thanks be to God for not taking him up to the Great Beyond too soon. While he continues to serve somewhat as Siv's protector, his perspective on her parents fate may have lost him admirers. The group decided to give him 65 points.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Strange wolves and a stranger woman

Post  Sakusammakko Wed 06 Oct 2010, 00:32

Date: 2nd of February in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 2 degrees; foggy

The demonic howling of wolves combined with the cold weather caused many sleepless nights in the village. With the absence of Brother Cuthbert, Sir Rolland and Brother Gaskon, it fell to Brother Thedin to lead a large group of explorers into Gordon's Keep. Mayra, Baylen, Siv and Neiva returned for more adventures. There were also a couple of newcomers-- the charming Armand and the scholarly Arelanor.

The newly acquainted had two notable encounters-- one with some wolves that stood on their hind legs and another with a suspiciously smiling woman. A few chests opened, but no plunder to be taken or evil to be vanquished. Will the wolves be howling tonight?

Brother Thedin once again learned that perhaps the Lord his not ready for his services in the Great Beyond just yet, though He has a poor sense of humor about it. An ill-placed axe blow by one of his companions almost split the cleric like a piece of cordwood. It is good to have faith. Perhaps for his forbearance in not calling down the wrath of God on Baylen's head, the group awarded him 116 points.

Mayra received a first-hand experience of what a pig must feel like when two giants fight over its' hind quarters. It was her misfortune to be between the party's two warriors when the entrance trap sprung. She is learning to make creative use of her non-torchbearing skills and these may have been more appreciated by this set of companions. They voted her 105 points.

Baylen received another opportunity to practice his fighting skills, attacking friend and foe with equal malice. How wise can a cleric be who stands next to him when he's got his rage on? Baylen noted that these wolves have a vicious bite that isn't like other wolves. It's possible that it was his recklessness axe-wielding (or his door-fighting skills) that caused the group to only give him 89 votes.

Siv's silent pluckiness has won favor within the party even though her knife-throwing skills threaten to re-part the hair of her comrades in arms. They awarded her 145 points for her good-natured company.

Neiva has realized that the only way she's going to get a good night sleep with this crowd is to take on the bloody wolves herself. Her entreaties to hunt the beasts fell on deaf ears-- and no wonder. Who can hear anything after all that howling? Her pleas may have been heard as complaints and the group only gave her 70 points.

Armand may have learned that kissing every lovely's hand may have unfortunate consequences. He seems to have escaped any harm this time. But the lady lover can't help himself. He practiced his other sly skills and for this he received the appreciation of his mates. They bestowed 124 votes upon him.

Arelanor discovered that this adventuring his scary stuff. It's one thing to read about it in books, but these places are dark, dirty and smelly. Those wolves had big teeth, Grandmother! Perhaps the young lad's resolve will be much stiffer the next time around with Baylen's present of a spinal column from the remains of the burnt skeleton. His companions gave him 51 votes.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Neiva's final rest

Post  Sakusammakko Mon 11 Oct 2010, 09:47

Date: 3rd of February in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 1 degree; cloudy; morning frost

It was another sleepless night for the inhabitants and visitors to Gordon. Temperatures remained close to freezing and the wolves continued their incessant screaming. The morning dawned dark with clouds overhead and Sir Rolland was slightly surprised to see so many eager faces wanting to make their way up to the ruins of Gordon Keep. He could be sure of the motives of Brother Gaskon and Brother Thedin, but the rest were probably treasure-hunters and danger-seekers. A large group was good. It might keep them collectively safe from the evil beneath the destroyed Keep. It was time to destroy those infernal statues....

Alas, the expedition went from bad to worse. After a chaotic descent, the party noticed that the wolves had been quite active around the entrance. The wolves were seen and heard down the western stairs and Neiva was determined to put an end to their howling and finally get some much needed sleep.

Damaco's scouting efforts led the wolves back to the group, which maintained its fighting shape and discipline (somewhat) in the face of 2 rather large and strange-looking wolves. Things went pear-shaped as soon as 2 new wolves arrived and the party's cohesiveness faltered significantly.

In the ensuing struggle, Neiva got her wish (though not exactly as planned). Sir Rolland and Brother Thedin fell unconscious, Damaco was badly wounded and Gaskon also suffered a viscious bite. The wolves were beaten back and the group called it a day. They limped back to the village to re-evaluate their situation with two of their leaders down....

Sir Rolland learned something about his own tactical skill and the general courage of this group of adventurers. His inspiring leadership seemed to be greatly respected as the group awarded him 135 votes.

The Lord must have a higher calling for Brother Thedin. Again, he was on death's door, but was miraculously saved. For his ability to stand up to evil foes and for facing down certain death yet again, his awed companions gave him 160 points.

Brother Gaskon learned that these wolves may be the feared werecreatures of legend. He knows that swift action is needed to save Sir Rolland and Brother Thedin from their curse. If he sees them in action again, he may learn enough of their fighting style to do extra damage....For standing tall and not deserting his comrades, Brother Gaskon had 131 points bestowed upon him.

Dio realized that he was a pretty good shot with his new crossbow. It's possible that he didn't misfire a single bolt. However, his travel companions may have been too busy fighting the enemy in melee or bickering with each other to have noticed. They only gave him 32 points for his efforts.

Damaco discovered that moving quietly doesn't necessarily protect you from beasts with superior scent. Nevertheless, his scouting and chivalry exploits seemed to have been noticed by his mates. They gave 147 votes for his efforts.

Siv has slowly been developing her throwing skills through practice. He inability to speak left her at a loss trying to follow the conversation of so many talkative people. Still, her contributions were rewarded with 101 points.

Alas, poor Neiva is no more. At least she won't have to listen to the howling any more. Perhaps in admiration for her fighting spirit (and maybe from a sense of guilt for not saving her), the party gave her 136 posthumous points.

Armand discovered that this adventuring is much more dangerous than casual liaisons with jealous lovers. Although he demonstrated quick thinking by jumping into the middle of the fray and dousing a wolf in oil, his fellow treasure-seekers did not seem to rate his efforts very highly. They only gave him 72 votes.

Arelanor demonstrated much more coolness under fire this time into the ruins and used his scholarly knowledge to the best of his ability. Perhaps it was Baylen's encouragement that did the trick. Unfortunately, his companions may have been shocked and disturbed by what they saw. They only gave him 32 votes.

Rodirigo learned that his efforts at chivalry seem to have been misunderstood. Somehow in the squabble with Damaco, his new companions seemed to take D's side. They only gave Rodirigo 52 points.

Might I suggest relaxing the rule that the award can only be split between a maximum of two people? last nights session was awesome, with lots of good rp and excellent contributions to the success of the party. Personally, I feel Deo was hard-done by (amoung others). I know that I wanted to vote for him, and certainly would have done if I could have split my award three ways instead of two. We should probably keep the two-way max split rule for smaller groups, but I would suggest a three way split for groups larger than 6.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Point taken

Post  Sakusammakko Tue 12 Oct 2010, 09:44

I think I came to the same conclusion a few sessions ago after you and Gaskon went in alone. I didn't communicate the change to you very well.

You may now award your 100 votes to whomever you like and in whatever combination. If that changes your vote from last time, send me your revised vote.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Dirty, smelly money

Post  Sakusammakko Tue 19 Oct 2010, 14:46

Date: 6th of February in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 4 degrees; rain

Brother Gaskon and Brother Thedin led a large group of treasure-hunters and danger-seekers up the slippery slopes to the ruins of Gordon's Keep. An old woman accompanied the adventurers and Brother Thedin and Armand took a personal interest in her care.

The descent into the Keep did not seem as chaotic as normal, though that is a relative observation. Once the party collected its wits, they went forward in the same direction to explore.

New ground was covered and so were the coins that the party found-- in wolf piss, to speak plainly. Mayra, Dio, Damaco and Armand had dogs barking at them and villagers staring at them upon their return to Gordon later in the afternoon. It may be wise for them to take nocturnal precautions. If they can't get the stink off their hands soon, they may find their throats slit-- if only to quiet the dogs and the villagers' fears....

Brother Gaskon learned that leading a rabble is not as easy as it seems. He demonstrated his fighting prowess with his new warhammer. None of his companions were killed and the group explored new territory under his watch. His leadership was respected with 104 votes given.

Brother Thedin faced battle again and this time prevailed unscathed. He is learning how to anticipate and dodge foes much better. He also provided leadership on this expedition and his companions gave him 113 points.

Mayra learned that greed...for lack of a better word...is good. She also discovered that the rash that she picked up from touching certain items is not so pleasant....Perhaps her incessant itching back to the village (in addition to her revolting smell) caused her comrades to only award her 68 votes.

Dio was once again rewarded for his 'scouting' efforts. However, his travel companions may not properly appreciate his abilities. It could be that they are disgusted by his personal hygiene (he reeks!). They only gave him 46 points for his efforts.

Damaco discovered that moving quietly in the shadows doesn't always help you watch where you step. An unfortunate incident with wolf feces and the smell of urine on his clothing caused everyone to give him wide passage. He is learning what it is to cause fear (and revulsion) in others. His scouting efforts seemed to have gone under-appreciated on this trip. His mates only gave him 56 votes.

Siv's is learning that her dark humor and clever interactions with the other members of this group are paying dividends. She has been developing her ability to influence others. Her contributions towards the party's success were rewarded with 214 points.

Armand discovered that he may need to be more careful about what he touches if he cares to receive any more caresses. His new-found friends are putting a kink in his amorous potential, though there's more of them to share. It's possible that his travel companions are revolted by Armand's new cologne-- eau du lupine. They only gave him 66 votes.

Arelanor demonstrated much more boldness while exploring the ruins, often leading the group into the darkness. This adventuring business isn't so bad after all! It's possible that the other thrill-seekers are concerned that they will be dragging the scholar's limp body back to the village if he keeps it up. They only gave him 51 votes.

Ethel has already forgotten what she did today. It seems she went for a pleasant walk in the woods. Her travel partners were absolutely lovely and they appeared to be charmed by her as well. They gave the little old lady 164 points for her companionship.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty The wolves take another victim

Post  Sakusammakko Mon 25 Oct 2010, 23:44

Date: 8th of February in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 7 degrees; fog

Two smelly adventurers and one scrawny scholar showed up this relatively warm morning to accompany Brother Gaskon on the day's expedition. Before going up to Gordon's Keep, the adventurers agreed to visit Efeti, the folk healer, to see if she could rid Mayra and Armand of the wolf stink that was upon them. If not for Brother Gaskon's steady nerve, Gordon may have had one less folk healer.

The party descended the Keep well and decided to root out the wolves. A well-formed plan quickly went wrong and Armand was mortally wounded. First aid was not applied quickly enough and he bled out on the stairs out of the Keep.

Brother Gaskon's second attempt at leading the expedition did not go as well as he may have hoped. He has decided to go to Legio to see if he can learn how to defeat these beasts. The rest of the group seemed not to fault his resolve nor his coolness amidst the lupine terror and gave him 100 points.

In the heat of battle, Mayra is honing her modest skills, though this expedition was less fruitful than previous forays into the Keep's ruins. Her companions awarded her 75 points.

The gallant Armand is no more. His companions returned him to the village amidst much local interest for a Wiking-style burial. They gave him 100 posthumous votes.

Arelanor learned that practical humor can have a dangerous side. And poorly placed oil can have fatal consequences. The sobered scholar grew up a bit on this trip and mates recognized his maturity with 125 votes.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Another close encounter with wolves

Post  Sakusammakko Tue 02 Nov 2010, 13:08

Date: 10th of February in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 5 degrees; overcast with ground snow

Brother Thedin greeted the now familiar faces of the Gordon expedition and introduced a newcomer, Sir Cristoforo, and his squire Marco. The wolves had been particularly active overnight.

Adventures were had which will be documented elsewhere by others.

Brother Thedin's leadership was respected by the group who gave him 150 points.

Dio's efforts with the crossbow went unappreciated by the party. Nobody awarded him points.

Siv seemed quieter than normal on this journey. Her odd sense of humor and her self-protection in the face of a wolfpack are probably why her companions only gave her 65 points.

Arelanor did not garner the same respect from his travel companions as he did on the last outing. Perhaps they are nervous of his strange powers. They gave him 50 votes.

Rodirigo proved to be a valuable member of the party, according to his colleagues. His scouting efforts uncovered a trap and a secret door and his use of the crossbow was proficient. He gained some good adventuring experience and was awarded 130 points for his efforts.

Ethel was once again popular with the group. She identified a new substance and tried in vain to use it to open the blue door. Her sling was useful in battle and her fellow wayfarers acknowledged her resourcefulness by voting her 130 points.

Sir Cristoforo was bold and strong in the face of danger and uncertainty. He learned that fighting for your life is much different than fighting with wooden swords. His first adventure was almost his last as a wolf brought him to the ground and moved in for the kill. Fortunately, his companions respected him enough to fight off the wolves with increased fury. These actions may have saved his life. The showed their gratitude for his bravery with 175 points.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Re: Role-Playing votes to date

Post  Sakusammakko Wed 17 Nov 2010, 12:02

Date: 14th of February in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 2 degrees; overcast with ground snow

Brother Thedin, with assistance from Sir Cristoforo and Brother Gaskon, led a small group of familiar faces up to the ruins of Gordon's Keep. They were determined to put an end to the demonic howling that has plagued the village the last couple of weeks.

The party was successful in its efforts in finding the beastlike wolves. They were not so successful in putting an end to their terror. If asked over a tankard of cider at the tavern, the survivors may tell their tale elsewhere.

Brother Thedin has not yet discovered what purpose the Lord has for him, but He must have a reason for sparing the deacon's life once again. There is no doubt about the cleric's piety, but he is still learning how to direct the group's combat efforts. Nobody seems to have blamed him for the party's losses, though. The group gave him 190 points.

Gaskon learned that some natural substances can be quite useful in battle. His resourcefulness probably saved his own life and allowed him to drag Brother Thedin to safety. His comrades admired his bravery and gave him 180 votes.

Siv was once again quiet. She engaged in combat, but her sixth sense told her that she should flee to save herself, which she did successfully. Her companions only gave her 45 points.

Arelanor was brave in the face of danger. Unfortunately, his confidence (or foolhardiness) in his combat abilities were greatly overestimated. Gaskon was unable to keep the wolves from taking Arelanor's corpse. Where it is and what's left of it, nobody knows. His former companions gave him 60 votes in remembrance.

Ethel did not prove to be such a reliable adventuring companion on this trip. She learned that being alive is much more valuable to her interests and she used her tools for self-preservation in the face of superior odds. The old woman decided not to die at the teeth of wolves. Her fellow wayfarers only gave her 40 points.

Once again Sir Cristoforo stood tall in a fight with wolves (albeit larger ones) and once again he was dragged to the ground. This time, he did not get up. Brother Gaskon was able to fend off the wolves and drag both Brother Thedin and Sir Cristoforo to safety, but in the process, Sir Cristoforo succumbed to his wounds. The young knights former companions showed their gratitude for his bravery with 70 points.

Date: 17th of February in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer

Weather: 0 degrees; overcast

Sir Rolland, Brother Thedin and Brother Gaskon were absent for this mission. An unknown figure dressed in monk's robes and a cheerful-looking villager dressed in a leather coat and carrying a spear joined the small group of familiar faces up to the ruins of Gordon's Keep.

The search for books led to a fearsome discovery. Will any tell the tale of what happened?

Dio learned that he is much better sneaking around and firing crossbow bolts than standing toe-to-toe with enemies. His valor in battle inspired his travel companions, who rewarded him with 150 points.

Siv engaged in more combat this time and is slowly improving her skills. Once again, but her sixth sense told her that she should flee to save herself, which she did successfully. Her companions gave her 95 points.

Rodirigo also learned that his stealth skills are better than his fighting ability. His bravery in the face of danger inspired his mates to give him 125 points for his efforts.

Ethel used her wiles in combat to protect her friends. She's learning the power of her alchemical concoctions. nevertheless, her fellow wayfarers only gave her 60 points.

Hortensio learned that there is great danger in fulfilling his mission. The young monk nearly lost his life in his first adventure. His companions voted him 70 points for his efforts.

Role-Playing votes to date Empty Trapdoor, hairless humanoids discovered

Post  Sakusammakko Tue 07 Dec 2010, 16:22

Date: 21st of February in the 22nd year of the reign of the Slobberer
Location: Village of Gordon
Weather: 5 degrees; clear day

It had been 4 days since the last adventure into the ruins of Gordon Keep. The winter morning was crisp, but clear. A crescent moon was visible above the snow-capped peaks in the distance. Five adventurers gathered in the village's only tavern the night before to get to know each other and discuss plans.

Brother Thedin was once again in charge and ably assisted by a new member of the Brotherhood of Saint Christopher, Junipero. They led Mendax, Siv and Ethel up to the Keep. A cursory check for more entrances revealed none, though there were signs of human and animal activity amongst the ruins.

The group increased their knowledge of the 1st level of the ruins and survived an encounter in a secret undercroft....What tales will be told in the tavern?

Brother Thedin's confidence in his leadership is growing. He was not harmed in combat this time and he was able to save his companions from death. They gave him 100 points.

Mendax is learning how to put his skills to best use. His efforts at pushing in a door may have saved a life and perhaps this is what his companions liked. They gave him 80 votes.

Siv is learning that she is quite good at using ranged weapons. Her quiet strength and comraderie were rewarded by her fellow travellers with 140 points.

Ethel's senility may be proving to be more of a hindrance than a benefit to the group. She was not able to provide as much assistance to the party this time as she has in the past. Her companions only gave her 50 points.

Junipero's first expedition into the unknown was almost a fatal one. His quick thinking, quick blade and quicker feet helped him survive his first combat encounter. He has learned much from the experience. His new mates admired his initiative and bravery. They rewarded him with 130 points.
